Microwave Components Inc. (MCI) has been a trusted manufacturer of miniature air coils since 1978. Founded by Preston Smith (Smitty), whose experience in the US Air Force and the private sector revealed the need for better quality, cost, and delivery in coil manufacturing, MCI was built on a foundation of innovation and family dedication.
Smitty began winding coils at home, enlisting his family to perfect the craft, and soon established MCI to serve the demanding needs of the military and defense sectors.
Growth and Family Commitment
From its humble beginnings of winding copper and gold coils, MCI has grown steadily, moving into business facilities, expanding its product line to include gold coils with stripped leads, and shipping millions of coils over the decades.
At present, company leadership remains in the family, with Smitty’s daughter, Robin Nazarian, now serving as CEO and his son, Jeff, managing operations.
